PASSAGE<3

I picked out

"But now there was a long morning's walk until noon, and if the men were silent it was because there was everything to think about and much to remmber. Perhaps later in the morning, when the sun was up and had warmend them, they would begin to talk, or just say the things they remembered, to be sure they were there, to be absolutely certain that things were safe in them. Montag felt the slow stir of words, the slow simmer. And when it came his turn, what could he say, what could he offer on a day like this, to make the trip a little easier? To everything there is a season. Yes. A time to break down, and a time to build up. Yes. A time to keep silence, and a time to speak. Yes, all that. But what else? What else? Something, something...
And on either side of the river was there a tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month; And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Yes, thought Montag, that's the one I'll save for noon. For noon...
When we reach the city."

on page 164 and 165 the last two pages of the book.
Although there were many good passages from this book, I particularly chose this one because I felt very emotional and also I was affected by reading this part. I think that Ray Bradbury wrote the last page of the book very very very well. Some books end with wierd endings that are almost impossible to laugh at or that doesn't fit into the book at all. However, Bradbury wrote in the way of affecting his audience. He lastly reminded his audience the importance of reading books again. My first response to his last passage of the book was "That's really sad."And it was sad and influencial. Some people were actually trying and working very hard opposing to the rotten world in the story of the book. They were memorizing at least one book in their head and when they had any time, they each announced their memorization to the others and kept on remembering and remembering hoping that the rotten world of burning books ends. Now Montag was becoming like one of them. Memorizing and remembering one by one sentences.
I never thought about literature much. I wouldn't really work that hard as those people of keeping the book because I am not like a book maniac... I figured out that I should at least become to like books and read them more often.

THEME<3

My second entry! ;)

Ray Bradbury had lots of themes and meanings in his book. As many people mentioned the theme of this book, I think that the theme is Ray Bradbury trying to tell the readers how important reading books are.

Many of the people including I, always say that we don't have enough time to read books. However, we are just making excuses. We have lots of time if we cut down some unimportant things and activities such as watching TV, doing computer, playing videogames, talking on the phone, and so much else. The students including I say that we don't have enough time to read extra books other than for homework and assignments on class. The grown ups say that they are already too busy with their works and don't have enough time to read any books.

For example, in the book, it mentioned about Montag's wife Mildred. She always watched TV on her three-sided walls. And she even had more greed so she demanded her husband to raise more money so that she could actually have a four-sided walls of TV. Everyone can think that she is just a stupid and dumb character. I think that Bradbury used Mildred as a character who shows the stupidness of not reading any books.

THEREFORE, HE IS TRYING TO TELL US THE IMPORTANCE OF BOOKS!!! ;)

CLIMAX<3

First Entry...
"THE TEMPERATURE AT WHICH BOOKS BURN" caught my eye on this book at first BUT.... it was really hard to understand and I didn't really much enjoy Ray Bradbury's writing style...
I enjoyed the climax part of this book the most! It was really exciting and I couldn't really stop reading because I wanted to find out what would happen next =]
When Mongtag finally realized that what Captain Beatty was doing was wrong, he turned against him. He didn't really care about what would others think about him suddenly becoming a "sinner." He made a decision to fight against everyone including his co-workers, captain, job, and his wife. He learned that books actually help to make an utopia, the better world. Everyone else was influenced by Captain Beatty that books are unuseful and worthless to their world and books leads to create bad minds to them. Captain Beatty used to enjoy books a lot but of tragedies that had happened in his life, he turned against the books and he was the leader of burning books. Montag was influenced by the next-door young neighbor girl Clarisse. He couldn't stand Captain Beatty anymore of abusing books, he fires at him and murders him. The murder of Captain Beatty is the key-climax of this book:)
My feelings of the climax of this book is that first, WAY TO GO MONTAG! Montag played a role both as a good and a bad character. When he was playing a role in a bad character who had a job of burning books and punishing he owners of the book, I didn't like the main charater much. However... when he turned against everything and protected books even committing a murder to his captain, I becmae to like him. Another, I thought that there needs to be someone like Montag in present day who is willing give up everything including his own self to become effective in saving the world. Our present world right now is so full of crimes and wrong things that God does not like. We need someone who is willing to save the world.
